Housing Authority of Newberry Awarded $250,000 Grant for Emergency Safety and Security Improvements
NEWBERRY, SC - Newberry Housing Authority is proud to announce that it has been selected to receive $250,000 in grant funding under the Fiscal Year 2025 Capital Fund Emergency Safety and Security Program. This funding has been awarded through the Full-Year Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2025 (Public Law 119-4, enacted March 15, 2025).
This competitive grant recognizes the Housing Authority's commitment to protecting the health and safety of public housing residents and improving their overall quality of life. The funds will be used to implement critical emergency safety and security enhancements across Newberry's public housing communities including the purchase and installation of carbon monoxide detectors, security cameras and security lighting upgrade.

The Emergency Safety and Security Program provides targeted investments to public housing authorities to address pressing safety concerns, such as improved lighting, security systems, and other urgent infrastructure needs.

Newberry Housing Authority, established in 1968, provides housing assistance for people with low and moderate incomes and the elderly through 315 Public Housing units and manages 278 Section 8 Vouchers for area landlords. Newberry Housing Authority participates in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Mainstream, Public Housing, and the SC Housing HOME Programs, and is governed by seven (7) Board of Commissioners.
