Board of Commissioners

The Housing Authority of the City of Newberry, SC (also known as Newberry Housing Authority) is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners. At least one of the Commissioners shall be a person who is directly assisted by Newberry Housing Authority; either a resident of or program participant. The Commissioner who is directly assisted by the authority must remain as an assisted resident to continue service on the Board of Commissioners. Members of the Board are appointed and ratified by the City Council except for the Commissioner who is directly assisted by Newberry Housing; that Commissioner is appointed by the mayor. The Commissioners shall be appointed as aforesaid for a term of office of five years except that all vacancies shall be filled for the unexpired term.
