Newberry Housing Authority Earns Two First-Place Communications Awards at Carolinas Council Annual Conference
NEWBERRY, S.C. - August 31, 2026 - The Newberry Housing Authority (NHA) has been recognized for excellence in communications, receiving two First Place awards for its website and resident newsletter.
The awards were presented through the Carolinas Council of Housing, Redevelopment & Codes Officials (CCHRCO) during its 2026 Annual Conference. Newberry Housing Authority received:
First Place - Website of the Year Contest, Large Agency (501-1500 Units), South Carolina
First Place - Newsletter of the Year Contest, Large Agency (501-1500 Units), South Carolina
The recognition highlights NHA's ongoing commitment to providing residents, community partners, and the public with timely, accessible, and engaging information.
"Effective communication is an essential part of serving our residents well," said Jessica M. Holcomb, Executive Director of the Newberry Housing Authority. "Whether through our website, resident newsletter, , or direct communication, our goal is to make sure the families we serve have access to information, resources, opportunities, and important updates. Receiving first place in both categories is an incredible honor and reflects the creativity and commitment of our entire team."
NHA's resident newsletter serves as an important communication tool for sharing agency announcements, resident programs, community events, educational opportunities, maintenance and safety reminders, available resources, and other information affecting NHA families. The agency's website provides residents and the broader community with convenient access to housing information, agency notices, resources, and services.
"These awards are especially meaningful because communication is about much more than simply sharing information-it is about keeping residents connected and engaged," Holcomb added. "We will continue looking for creative and effective ways to strengthen communication and ensure that our residents know what is happening within their housing authority and community."
Newberry Housing Authority, established in 1968, provides housing assistance for people with low and moderate incomes and the elderly through 315 Public Housing units and manages 279 Section 8 Vouchers for area landlords. Newberry Housing Authority participates in the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Mainstream, Public Housing, VASH, and the SC Housing HOME Programs, and is governed by seven (7) Board of Commissioners.
